Collection: Brandon Best

Brandon Best is a Barbadian painter born & raised.Throughout his career as an artist, Brandon's work explores themes of music, wildlife and illustrated caricatures expressing his experiences and observations growing up as a young man in Barbados. All his work is deeply influenced by abstract expressionism, graffiti, street art, jazz, and
at times colloquial references to Bajan life.Brandon expresses an emphasis to the tremendous value in producing work featuring people, with cultural narratives displayed in abstract and expressive social commentary. Oftentimes his work is created in grand sizes because he intends for viewers to get accustomed to the grand scale that art can be received, for the hopes of more murals being produced in more public spaces across the country, no limits. Some pieces are actual scenes of people painting on walls or be a landscape work with graffiti influenced elements. His medium of preference is the use of oil pastels, acrylic paint, marker, and paper; often presented as
mixed media. The primary focus of Brandon's work is to showcase artwork in a style and themes that are beyond the popularized and romanticized lens already expected and received within visual arts of Barbados.
