Iain MacRae is a Caymanian artist whose practice explores themes of identity, heritage, and socio-political discourse. His work invites viewers to engage with complex narratives and critical conversations about culture, belonging, and contemporary society.
MacRae has exhibited extensively throughout the Cayman Islands, presenting solo exhibitions including Taobh Thiar De Na Cnamh (Behind the Bones) at Parcel 110 and gov.ky at The Gallery at Camana Bay. His work has also featured in significant group exhibitions such as 81 Degrees West and the Cayman Islands Biennial at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.
In 2024, MacRae presented Another Young Caymanian at Gram Bella's and subsequently participated in Dialogue at Play, a cross-cultural exhibition alongside Jamaican artist Scott Braque. In 2025, he was awarded the Bendel Hydes Emerging Artist Award by the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, recognizing his growing impact on the contemporary art landscape. MacRae's contributions to Caymanian art have been further acknowledged through the acquisition of his work into the permanent collections of both the Cayman Islands National Museum and the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.
