Zen Punnett is a self-taught visual artist, farmer, and cultural entrepreneur from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Deeply inspired by nature, community, and Caribbean identity, her work explores the relationship between people, land, memory, and spirit.

Drawing from her experiences living and working on the land, Zen creates paintings that blend symbolism, storytelling, and dreamlike imagery. Her distinctive visual language often features feminine figures, vibrant natural elements, and themes of abundance, transformation, and ancestral connection.

Beyond her artistic practice, Zen operates Bush Bar, an organic farm and kitchen that promotes sustainable agriculture, healthy food, and cultural experiences rooted in Caribbean traditions. Through both art and agriculture, she seeks to celebrate the richness of island life and the wisdom carried through generations.

Her work reflects an ongoing commitment to honoring the beauty, resilience, and spiritual depth of the Caribbean while imagining new narratives of abundance, healing, and connection.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings explore the Caribbean as a living spiritual landscape where land, memory, identity, and transformation are deeply connected.

For this series, I created two works, Keepers of Abundance and Volcanic Bloom. Together, they depict one spirit expressed through two aspects of Caribbean Soul. The recurring blue-haired figure is a symbolic embodiment of the Caribbean itself: nurturing yet powerful, rooted in ancestry yet constantly evolving.

In Keepers of Abundance, floating breadfruit, moonlit landscapes, and feminine guardians represent nourishment, blessing, and the generosity of the land. In Volcanic Bloom, the same spirit emerges through volcanic energy as a symbol of resilience, renewal, and transformation.

As both a farmer and artist, I experience the land not only as scenery but as a source of culture, memory, survival, and inspiration. Through symbolism, color, and dreamlike imagery, these works celebrate the Caribbean as a living force that continues to nourish, transform, and endure.
