About Us

Show & Prize

The Mustique Caribbean Contemporary Art Show & Prize is a charitable biennial held once every two years on Mustique Island, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, dedicated to emerging artists living in the Caribbean. Its purpose is to recognize exceptional talent early, and to back it with real financial support and a platform of international standing.

The prize is built for artists the wider market has not yet reached. To be eligible, an artist must live in the Caribbean and must never have held representation outside the region.

How artists take part

Participation is by invitation. A nominating committee spanning the English, French, Spanish and Dutch speaking Caribbean puts forward the artists invited to the show, ensuring it reflects the linguistic and cultural range of the region rather than any single tradition within it.

Nominated artists are then assessed in two stages. The Longlist Jury reviews every participating artist and establishes the Longlist of 25 artworks to be exhibited on Mustique. The Shortlist & Winner Jury then narrows that field to a Shortlist of 3, selecting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Exhibited works are sold benefiting the artist and the Mustique Educational Trust.
