These paintings are a tribute to my late grandparents from fathers’ side (adja and adji). Adja died in 1996 and adji died in 2011. They choose to stay in the Caribbean and thus laid the foundation for future generations to flourish and thrive in the multiethnic and culturally diverse society of the Caribbean. Our ancestors are the founders of diversity in music, arts, culinary, language, religion, literature, and all the things we are surrounded by. This is for me the Caribbean soul, a diverse society with every participant respecting each other’s culture and even making some aspects of those of their own.
