Description:

Created from a moment of pure defiance, on an island where the only path to success for a young man is to either be a doctor or through increasingly difficult manual labor leaving no room is left for the creative. This piece depicts the unstoppable and stubborn will of the Caribbean people, many of who decide to be creative regardless of what others perceive success to be.

A simple spark of creation and a hint of opportunity is all it takes to ignite the burning urge to devote themselves to art. Ironically the same hands that want these flames tend to be most responsible for the entrapment of the youth, for when they fail, they in turn project said failure onto those who come after. This cycle creates a web, one which lure with promises of support only to indoctrinate and trap with the fear of inadequacy. Hands left too afraid to crate but their eyes forever open to the possibilities and endless
opportunities.
