Ozy Merrique

As a multi-dimensional creative hailing from the vibrant cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago, I, Oswald 'Ozy' Merrique, walk through the worlds of music, fine art, writing, and performance  seeking answers and shedding new light. I revel in both mystical and the mundane, finding the  extraordinary in what may be seen as ordinary.

My artistic journey is a journey into heritage, folklore  and the not so explored spaces of contemporary concerns of out Caribbean cultures  Things like identity, belonging, and transformation  are actually personal quests i undertake seeking greater understanding of self and self in others.

I try to make myself wonder and pour this wonderment into my works.

In my music and my writing, I lean towards the sounds  and words that resonate with both nostalgia and innovation. I believe in the rhythm of possibility.

In my fine art and my film making, I explore the intersection of fantasy and reality, I am invited and so honoured  to live a life where I can reimagine the world outside and embrace the magic that lies within. To bend light and colour forming stories that transcend time and space.
