An kè Lapwent is part of a photographic series paying homage to Guadeloupean architectural heritage through the facades of its houses, a subject notably theorized by Marxist independence architect Jack Berthelot in his work Kaz antiyé jan moun ka rété. Facing these walls, the present moves. Moments of pause, to absorb, appreciate, live, be. All the words that cannot be read are nonetheless all these voices we must listen to.
These works belongs to the "Collages" series, in which fragments of dwellings and portraits, photographed in places dear to the artist, are digitally combined to build new imaginaries, reflecting a personal history shaped by growing up in Guadeloupe to Ivorian and Central African parents.
