tí Cuyá es una obra inspirada en la cosmovisión aborigen caribeña, principalmente en 
la figura de Boinayel, el dios que lloraba para bendecir la tierra. El nombre que le doy a la 
pieza, es una combinación de dos palabras, Ití, que significa liquido que emana de un cuerpo o elemento (savia de plantas, sangre de una herida, fluido de los ojos, lagrimas), y Cuyá,que es el término para los astros o las estrellas, de esta forma Ití Cuyá propone ser “lágrimas de las estrellas”.

En mi pintura, retrato el paisaje de un río como espíritu que mantiene viva una herencia 
geológica y una conexión con nuestros ancestros, siendo éste el eje principal en la vida de todas las generaciones. La lluvia, como una concentración de estrellas fugaces cae formando ríos desde lo alto, y desemboca en nuestro presente. He utilizado este tono turquesa como color principal ya que es un color que se asocia al caribe por sus memorables playas y porque está presente en las aguas de las montañas, en las aguas que contiene el carso; de esta forma llevo la mirada a la fuente que dio vida a nuestra identidad.

ENGLISH:

Ití Cuyá is a work inspired by the Caribbean aboriginal worldview, primarily by the figure of Boinayel, the god who wept to bless the earth. The name I give to the piece is a combination of two words: Ití, which means liquid that emanates from a body or element (plant sap, blood from a wound, fluid from the eyes, tears), and Cuyá, which is the term for celestial bodies or stars. Thus, Ití Cuyá proposes to be “tears of the stars.” In my painting, I portray the landscape of a river as a spirit that keeps alive a geological heritage and a connection with our ancestors, this being the main axis in the lives of all generations. The rain, like a concentration of shooting stars, falls forming rivers from above and flows into our present. I have used this turquoise tone as the main color because it is a color associated with the Caribbean due to its memorable beaches and because it is present in the waters of the mountains, in the waters contained within the karst; in this way, I draw attention to the source that gave life to our identity.
