The use of goat skin references a long history within Caribbean cultural practices, especially the drum making customs rooted in Africa. The Caribbean didn’t just take on African traditions. It reaffirmed them into new forms of identity. I didn’t use the goat skin in its traditional way. The skin that once carried life, now carries an image , a story and a voice. Resonant body, like a drum.
