B. 2003 - Trinidad & Tobago

Hannah Seucharan (b. 2003) is a contemporary artist from Trinidad and Tobago. While she works primarily in acrylics, her practice spans multiple mediums including digital art and drawing. Seucharan explores the complex nature of female sexuality within the Caribbean space. The female body is a dominant motif within her work, appearing in various stages of abstraction as she bridges the gap between beauty and horror. She prioritizes ambiguity, employing gestural strokes and mark-making in order to achieve her signature distorted style.

In 2026, she obtained her BA in Visual Arts from the University of the West Indies and has exhibited work at Horizons Art Gallery.

Artist Statement
My work explores the tensions between female sexuality and conservative Caribbean culture. I aim to discuss these facets through the lens of multiplicity versus fragmentation. Whereas the former explores ideas of finding community or a sense of belonging through identity, the latter demonstrates how it can simultaneously isolate you from wider society. The female body becomes my dominant motif as I reconcile with my personhood and consider existence as an act of resistance. Using acrylics and gesso, I create abstracted forms that bridge the gap between beauty and horror. Ambiguity and fluidity are key to my practice as they enable me to reject fixed representations of femininity and sexuality.
